As the year enters its final stretch, it’s natural to start thinking about the upcoming holiday season and the festivities that come with it. For those who have been diligently working towards their vegan weight loss goals, this can be a challenging time. However, it’s crucial not to let the holiday season become a detour on your path to success. With just 4 months left in the year, staying focused and accountable to your weight loss goals is more important than ever. I want to share some effective tips to stay on track while enjoying a vegan lifestyle this Fall, GET BACK TO BASICS!

What NUTRITION BASICS can you focus on?

START HERE

  1. EAT MEALS
Forget the graze, snacky, munchie vibes, and instead make time to eat 3 balanced meals a day and a snack(s) if needed.
Pro-Tip: -Sitting at a table and eating from a plate is the easiest way to naturally eat less and enjoy food more!
  2. PRIORITIZE PROTEIN
Make sure each meal has enough protein.
  3. ADD COLORFUL VOLUME
Make sure each meal has fruits and/or veggies. They add powerful disease-fighting nutrients and fresh life force to your body! Don’t overthink this, just find produce and add it to the meal.
  4. PLAN AHEAD & PREPARE
One of the keys to success during the holiday season is planning ahead. Before attending gatherings or parties, check if you can bring a protein dish to share. This ensures you have an option available to keep you full instead of eating after getting home because you are still hungry! Additionally, don’t go HUNGRY before the event!! Eat PRIOR to heading out a balanced meal or snack before the event to curb excessive hunger and reduce the likelihood of overindulging.
  5. PRACTICE MINDFUL EATING
During holiday celebrations, it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities and mindlessly eat. Practice mindful eating by savoring each bite, eating slowly, and paying attention to your body’s hunger and fullness cues. This can prevent overeating and allow you to truly enjoy the flavors and textures of your meals.
  6. MAKE IT FEEL EASIER
Want nutrition to feel easier? Exercise and sleep. When you move your body daily + let it reset with 8 hours of sleep each night, you’ll have the ENERGY to care more about your nutrition! Physical activity is a crucial component of any health journey. Find ways to stay active during the holiday season, whether it’s going for a walk after a meal, participating in a virtual workout class, or dancing to your favorite tunes. Maintaining your activity level can help contribute to your overall well-being.
  7. SEEK SUPPRT & ACCOUNTABILITY
Enlist the support of friends, family, or a weight loss buddy who understands your vegan journey. Share your goals and strategies with them and keep each other accountable throughout the holiday season. Having someone to lean on can make a significant difference in staying on track.

As the year winds down and the holiday season approaches, remember that your weight loss goals are still within reach. By staying mindful, planning ahead, focusing on nutrient-dense foods, practicing mindful eating, staying active, and seeking support, you can successfully navigate the holiday season while continuing to make progress. With just 4 months left in the year, embrace the opportunity to stay on track and celebrate the New Year having achieved the results you’ve been working hard for.
