Vegan snacks are essential for any trips you’re taking this summer; whether it’s your summer vacation or a weekend trip to visit family, staying healthy while traveling can be a challenge if you are not prepared. It can be difficult to find vegan travel snacks on the go, especially if you’re driving through areas where the only food for miles is found at rest areas and fast food chains. Here are my favorite vegan on-the-go snacks to make sure you take along on your next trip!

6 Don’t-Leave-Behind Healthy, Vegan Road Trip Snacks

1. Roasted edamame: Edamame (soybeans) is a great source of protein, containing all 8 essential amino acids as well. Just one serving provides 14g of soy protein and only 2 net carbohydrates. Roasted edamame is extremely versatile as a snack, easy to carry, and very tasty when blended into your favorite trail mix!

2. Flavored protein powder- This easy-to-pack snack can mix with water when traveling allowing you to easily add protein into your day. I suggest finding a flavored protein powder that has no sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners; look for one that uses stevia or monk fruit for the sweetness.

3. Lupini beans – The Lupini super bean is one of the most nutrient-dense plants on the planet. High in protein plus, it’s the only bean that’s 0g net carbs per serving. These snacks are incredibly nutritious and deliciously addicting.

4. Dark chocolate squares – Vegan chocolate is made with cacao beans, which are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and copper. Cacao beans are also a good source of fiber and antioxidants. Plus, it will satisfy a sweet tooth keeping you from grabbing junk food.

5. Clementines – Tasty, healthy, and easy to carry, and easier to peel than oranges! Clementines are a great way to add fiber and immune-boosting antioxidant vitamin C!

These other fruits are some of other great vegan road trip snacks:

  • Grapes
  • Apples
  • Bananas (though pack on top so they don’t get bruised!)
  • Dates + other dried fruits
  • Berries

6. Raw nuts and nut butter packets – These easy to pack, shelf-stable gluten-free snack ready to fuel you for any moment on the go! Nuts provide fiber some protein and a satisfying fat.. nuts pair well with a piece of fruit and the nut butter packets make an awesome oatmeal topper! You can easily pack oatmeal packets and make with hot water using your hotel room coffee maker to warm up some water or asking for hot water at a coffee shop or on the plane!
